GREEN SEAL CERTIFICATION FOR SEVEN LOS ANGELES HOTELS City of Los Angeles Green Lodging Program lists seven hotels that have earned a Green Seal Silver or Bronze Level Certification for operating in an environmentally responsible or sustainable matter.
BigTravelNews.info - Sep 19,2012 - The City of Los Angeles Green Lodging Program, part of the City’s Green Business Certification Program, lists seven hotels that have earned a Green Seal Silver or Bronze Level Certification for operating in an environmentally responsible or sustainable matter.
Five of the Green Seal hotels are in the Century Boulevard Hotel Corridor near the Los Angeles International Airport: Hilton Los Angeles International Airport (Bronze), Radisson Hotel at Los Angeles Airport (Silver), Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel (Silver), The Westin Los Angeles Airport (Silver) and Crowne Plaza Los Angeles International Airport Hotel (Bronze). Others are the The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites Los Angeles (Silver) in Downtown LA and Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City (Silver).
The Green Lodging Program, started in 2009, is a joint effort of the Bureau of Sanitation, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board and the non-profit organization Green Seal.
The certification by Green Seal verifies a hotel has met rigorous environmental requirements to reduce its operation’s impact on the environment and human health, including waste minimization and reduction, recycling and energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor air quality, and purchasing products that are environmentally sound.
“With millions of tourists and business travelers visiting Los Angeles on a yearly basis, we congratulate these hotels that have taken steps to operate in a more environmentally and sustainable way,” said Board of Public Works President Andrea A. Alarcon.
“We are happy to see hotels join other businesses in the City participating in the Green Business Certification Program and helping the City reach their goal of zero waste,” said Bureau of Sanitation Director Enrique C. Zaldivar.
