BigTravelNews.info - Aug 09,2012 - The new Islamorada History Museum and Conference Center is scheduled to open in October, 2012. This new oceanfront venue for luxury weddings, private receptions and corporate events has been designed to showcase and celebrate the unique history of the Florida Keys with an emphasis on Isla Morada Tierre Encantada or Islamorada, the Purple Isle, as it was named by Spanish explorers.
The true character of Florida Keys architecture is reflected in the new two-story traditional style building that houses the Islamorada History Museum and Conference Center, along with a large two-story ocean-facing porch that will serve as pre-function space for reunions, tournaments, corporate meetings and celebrations of all kinds. Events can easily be taken off the porch, and right onto the lush garden area. This garden area, steps from the beautiful beach, is fully accessible, and may be used for weddings, receptions, outdoor meetings, or just lounging at the end of the day by the ocean.
The Islamorada History Museum and Conference features include two-story grand entrance with a detailed map mural of the Florida Keys area; historical exhibits depicting early explorers, pirates, settlers, native Indians, the Spanish Connection, shipwrecks, lighthouse memorabilia, hurricanes, railroads and fishing legends; 4,000 square-foot oceanfront Conference Center including three large meeting rooms and pre-function space; Indian Key Ballroom; Alligator Reef Verandah with an Atlantic Ocean view; Plantation Key Patio with an Atlantic Ocean view; Eye-of-the-Storm Theatre, a state-of-art movie theater for 40; the Tea Table Key Conference Room and Library; state-of-the-art A/V equipment, first class catering facilities, and a gourmet chef.
The new Islamorada History Museum and Conference Center is located on the same 25-acre oceanfront property as Islander Resort, and will serve as a premiere Florida Keys destination for weddings, receptions and corporate events.
Islander Resort is now accepting reservations for the 2013 season.
